Professional Ink-Rolled Fingerprinting on

FBI FD-258 Cards

Majeed Guns & Firearms School provides professional ink-rolled fingerprinting services using the FBI FD-258 Applicant Fingerprint Card, one of the standard fingerprint-card formats used throughout the United States for a wide variety of federal, state, licensing, employment, and permit purposes.

The FD-258 is an official FBI applicant fingerprint form. The FBI identifies it for civil fingerprint submissions, and the card itself provides for use by state and local governments for authorized employment, licensing, and permit purposes, as well as by U.S. government agencies and other entities required by federal law.

Traditional Ink-Rolled Fingerprints

We capture fingerprints using the traditional ink-and-roll method, carefully rolling each finger from nail to nail and completing the required plain impressions. Proper technique matters: the FBI specifically instructs that fingerprint impressions should be completely rolled, placed in the correct sequence, and sufficiently clear for processing. FBI

Our fingerprinting service can be used when an agency or application specifically requests an FD-258 card or accepts ink fingerprint cards, including applications involving:

  • FBI and federal background-check processes

  • ATF applications and licensing processes

  • Federal, state and local government agencies

  • Professional and occupational licenses

  • Pistol/firearm permit applications where FD-258 cards are accepted

  • Out-of-state and nonresident permit applications

  • Employment and licensing background checks

  • Security and suitability investigations

  • Other applications requiring applicant fingerprint cards

ATF itself lists the FD-258 among its official forms and identifies it as the fingerprint card used for certain federal firearms licensing purposes.

Nationwide-Recognized Standard Format

Because the FD-258 is the FBI's standard Applicant Fingerprint Card, it is widely used by government and licensing authorities throughout the United States. This makes traditional ink fingerprinting especially useful for individuals applying to agencies outside Connecticut or submitting applications by mail.

Acceptance requirements vary by agency and application. Some agencies require electronic Live Scan fingerprints, a specific ORI number, a particular fingerprint card, or fingerprints taken by a designated law-enforcement agency or approved vendor. We therefore recommend confirming the receiving agency's requirements before your appointment.

ATF & Federal Applications

FD-258 fingerprint cards are also used for certain ATF purposes. For example, ATF specifically identifies the FD-258 as a fingerprint card used when applying for a Federal Firearms License, and ATF regulations and forms prescribe FD-258 fingerprints for certain other firearms-related applications when fingerprints are required.
