Federal Firearms License (FFL)

 FFL Services

Licensed. Professional. Convenient.

Majeed Guns & Firearms School is a federally licensed firearms dealer (FFL) and provides professional firearm transfer services for customers who need firearms legally received, documented, processed, and transferred through a Federal Firearms Licensee.

As a Type 01 Federal Firearms Licensee — Dealer in Firearms, we can facilitate a wide range of firearm transactions and transfers in accordance with applicable federal, Connecticut, and other governing laws.

Whether you purchased a firearm from an out-of-state dealer, an online retailer, an auction, or another private individual, we can help facilitate the lawful transfer when the transaction is one we are authorized to handle.

What Is an FFL Transfer?

An FFL transfer is the process through which a Federal Firearms Licensee receives a firearm and legally transfers it to the ultimate recipient.

A common example is purchasing a firearm from an online retailer or dealer located outside Connecticut. Instead of the firearm being shipped directly to you, the seller ships it to a Federal Firearms Licensee such as Majeed Guns & Firearms School.

We receive the firearm into our licensed inventory and complete the legally required transfer process before releasing the firearm to the eligible recipient.

For transactions requiring an FFL transfer, the recipient must satisfy all applicable federal and state requirements before the firearm can be released.

Purchase Firearms From Across the Country and Have Them Transferred to Us

Found a firearm you want from an out-of-state dealer, online retailer, auction house, or other lawful source?

Have it transferred to us.

We can receive eligible firearms from properly authorized sellers and FFLs throughout the United States and facilitate the transfer to you here in Connecticut, provided the firearm and transaction comply with all applicable federal and Connecticut laws.

This gives our customers significantly more flexibility when shopping for firearms. You are not necessarily limited to the inventory available at a local store.

Purchase from a lawful source, designate Majeed Guns & Firearms School as your receiving FFL, and have the firearm shipped to us for processing and pickup.

Once the firearm arrives and is properly received into our records, we can coordinate the required transfer process with you.

When Is an FFL Transfer Needed?

An FFL transfer is commonly needed when:

• You purchase a firearm from an online firearms retailer.

• You purchase a firearm from an out-of-state gun store or FFL.

• You purchase a firearm through an online firearms marketplace or auction.

• A firearm is being transferred between residents of different states.

• A private firearm transaction is required by applicable law to go through a licensed dealer.

• You would like an FFL to facilitate an eligible private-party firearm transaction.

• A firearm needs to be shipped to an FFL in another state for lawful transfer to its recipient.

• You are purchasing an eligible firearm from a seller who requires shipment to a Federal Firearms Licensee.

Federal law generally requires an unlicensed individual receiving a firearm purchased from an out-of-state source to receive it through an FFL in the recipient's state of residence, subject to applicable exceptions and rules for certain transactions.

Private-Party Firearm Transfers

We also facilitate eligible private-party firearm transfers.

If one private individual is transferring or selling a firearm to another individual, we can serve as the licensed dealer facilitating the transaction when permitted by law.

The firearm is processed through our FFL records, and the recipient must complete all paperwork, identification, eligibility verification, background-check or state-authorization procedures, and other requirements applicable to that particular transaction before the firearm can be released.

Using an FFL for a private transaction provides both parties with a formal transfer process and ensures that the transaction is handled according to the applicable legal requirements.

Interstate Private Transfers

Federal law generally prohibits an unlicensed individual from directly transferring a firearm to an unlicensed resident of another state.

For example, if a Connecticut resident purchases an eligible firearm from a private seller located in another state, the firearm generally must be transferred through an appropriate FFL before the Connecticut resident takes possession.

Likewise, when a Connecticut customer lawfully transfers a firearm to an individual residing in another state, we may be able to facilitate shipment to an appropriate FFL in the recipient's state, where the final transfer is completed in accordance with applicable law.

The Transfer Process

The process is straightforward.

1. Contact Us Before Shipping

Before having a firearm sent to us, contact Majeed Guns & Firearms School. We can confirm whether we are able to accept the particular transfer and provide the information needed by the sending dealer or seller.

2. Have the Firearm Shipped to Our Licensed Premises

Once the transfer has been approved, the seller or sending FFL can arrange shipment to us in accordance with applicable law and carrier requirements.

3. We Receive and Process the Firearm

When the firearm arrives, we inspect the shipment information and enter the firearm into our required acquisition records.

4. We Contact You

Once the firearm has been received and is ready for the transfer process, we can arrange for you to complete the required paperwork and procedures.

5. Complete the Required Transfer

The actual transfer is subject to all applicable federal and Connecticut requirements, including identification, eligibility, required forms, permits or credentials, background-check/state authorization procedures, and any applicable waiting periods or other legal restrictions.

6. Take Possession

Once every applicable requirement has been satisfied and the transfer is legally authorized, the firearm can be released to you.

Background Checks & Required Documentation

FFL transfers are regulated transactions.

Depending upon the transaction, the recipient may be required to complete an ATF Form 4473 — Firearms Transaction Record, provide acceptable government-issued identification, present applicable Connecticut permits or eligibility credentials, and successfully complete the applicable background-check or state authorization process.

Additional requirements may apply depending upon the firearm, purchaser, seller, state of residence, and nature of the transaction.

A firearm will never be released simply because it has been shipped to our location. The recipient must independently satisfy every legal requirement applicable to the transfer.

Important — Contact Us Before Ordering

We strongly recommend contacting us before purchasing or shipping a firearm to our FFL.

Not every firearm that may be lawful in another state is necessarily lawful to transfer or possess in Connecticut, and federal and state restrictions can differ considerably.

Contacting us first allows us to review the basic details of the proposed transfer and determine whether it is a transaction we can accept.

Do not have a firearm shipped to us without first confirming the transfer with our staff.
