This comprehensive course is designed to prepare students for the New Jersey Permit to Carry application process. The program provides instruction in firearm safety, handgun operation, ammunition selection, safe storage practices, situational awareness, conflict avoidance, and the legal responsibilities associated with carrying a firearm in New Jersey.

Students will receive classroom instruction covering New Jersey firearm laws, prohibited locations, use-of-force principles, and concealed-carry best practices. The course also includes the mandatory New Jersey live-fire qualification and practical shooting assessment required for permit applicants. New Jersey requires applicants to complete firearms training and qualification as part of the permit application process.

Duration: Approximately 4–6 hours, including classroom instruction and the New Jersey live-fire qualification. Most New Jersey training programs combine classroom education with the required qualification course.

Upon successful completion, students will receive the documentation necessary to begin the New Jersey Permit to Carry application process.

Important Notes:

  • New Jersey requires applicants to successfully complete the New Jersey Civilian Carry Assessment and Range Evaluation (CCARE) as part of the permit application process.

  • The course includes classroom instruction and the mandatory live-fire qualification.

  • No prior firearms experience is required; beginners are welcome.

  • Students must present a valid government-issued photo ID.

  • Firearms, ammunition, eye protection, and hearing protection may be available for students who do not own equipment.

  • Safe firearm handling, storage, conflict avoidance, and New Jersey firearm laws are emphasized throughout the course.

  • Students will receive a certificate of completion upon successfully completing the course.

  • Completion of the course does not guarantee permit issuance; all applications are subject to review and approval by the appropriate New Jersey authorities.

  • State application fees, fingerprinting fees, and permit fees are separate from course tuition.

  • New Jersey law restricts carry in certain locations, including designated sensitive places.

  • Passport photos, fingerprinting, notarization, and application assistance may be available.

  • Private instruction, family groups, corporate events, and women's-only classes are available upon request.

  • Seven days of post-class support are available to assist students throughout the application process.

  • Reciprocity laws vary by state and are subject to change.​
